In this mixed bag tour in Belize, we travel for 50 minutes along the Old Northern Highway from Belize City. The Altun Ha Maya Temple is the closest excavated Maya Temple to Belize City near the Village of Rockstone Pond and is most visited by Belizean school children from all over the country. Its name means "Rockstone Water," and it has wide-open spaces. Due to this, the temples are accessible and easier to climb than Lamanai and Xunantunich.
After trekking an ancient home of the Maya, you’ll head west for 90 minutes on the Western Highway for a Cave Tubing Adventure And Zip Line tour. Once at the outpost, you’ll be given a basic orientation and safety briefing before heading off on a 30 minutes hike to the cave system, which includes wading through a few knee-deep water streams.
Don’t let the hike worry you, though, as it’s mostly on flat terrain; it is enjoyable and informative. The rainforest canopy shades it, and our tour guides will point out flora and fauna noteworthy to the area.
The Belize cave tubing tours through the Maya underworld on the cave branch river begin once you reach the cave entrance. Inside, you’ll see intricate crystalline formations that line the cave with a majestic rise and fall of stalagmites and stalactites that add to the serene richness and grandiose of Xibalba as it’s known.
Our guides may stop at the mini waterfall and swimming area if there is time and you are up for an added adventure. After leaving the falls, you’ll emerge into the sunlight and free float downstream, ushered by the gentle current and little rapids, to the harmony of birds and natural wildlife, which routes back to where the tour started.
You'll then be able to experience Belize's jungle from an elevated vantage point by zip-lining along its treetops. We'll help you outfit the required equipment afterward, just a short walk away. You’ll then make your way over to the first platform, where an important safety briefing will follow, covering braking technique, balancing, and cable safety.
READY! SET! GO! Push off from the wooden platform and zip along the aerial cable at canopy level, where a guide will be waiting for you at the next platform.
You will see the hammock bridge as soon as you enter your Indiana Jones adventure. Next, take in the tangled heart of Belize’s spellbinding and lush primeval forest as the wide glade of trees falls away to reveal an infinite blue sky. After this, the lines get faster and longer. This thrilling combo tour will add memorable photos to your album and is a must-do when visiting Belize.
Note: It’s best to use comfortable shoes and clothing that will air dry quickly if you don’t want to bring along a change of clothing for cave tubing. If you opt to bring a change of clothes, bathroom facilities and showers are provided onsite, but it’s going to be a quick change as time doesn’t permit the leisure of a long shower.
You are now ready to go! Nobody soap eye view or rags provided. Guides may also give you the option of deciding whether you want to zip first and then cool off by doing the tubing last.
