Xunantunich ANCIENT MAYAN Ruins

Xunantunich Maya Ruins is a national treasure that fills visitors with a sense of time travel. It sits close to Belize's western border and is a must-visit. Local
souvenirs, hammocks, and blankets are available from the many vendors waiting alongside the river
at the entrance to the hand-cranked ferry that has carried many thousands to and from the calm
the beauty of this Maya Temple.
Xunantunich Mayan ruin, also known as the "MAIDEN OF THE ROCK," is Belize's second-tallest Mayan ruin. The largest pyramid, El Castillo, stands 130 feet above the Mayan Center of Xunantunich plaza and offers an impressive panoramic view of the Cayo District, Guatemala, and the Mopan River. The site has been primarily excavated and has a well-appointed educational museum.

Cave Tubing Tour

When you arrive at the outpost, you will meet your tour guides, who will issue inflatable inner tube,
headlamps, and life vests. You'll be given a basic orientation and safety briefing before heading off on
The 30-minute hike in the Rainforest includes wading through a few knee-deep water streams.
Once at the cave system's entrance, it's time for your ancient Maya underworld adventure. You'll
see intricate crystalline formations that line the cave with a majestic rise and fall of stalagmites and
stalactites add to the serene richness and grandiosity of Xibalba as it's known. After exiting the
cave, you'll emerge into the sunlight and free float downstream, ushered by the gentle current and
little rapids, to the harmony of birds and natural wildlife routes back to where the tour started.

Cave Tubing Note: It's best to use comfortable shoes and clothing that will air dry quickly if you don't
want to bring a change of clothing. If you opt to bring a change of clothes, bathroom facilities
and showers are provided onsite, but it will be a quick change as time doesn't permit the leisure

of a long shower. It rinses and goes! No soap or rags are not provided.
