Belize Tours from Hopkins
Ancient Temples & Jungle Trails. This tour offers the perfect blend of history and nature. Departing from Hopkins, we take you to the Cayo District to climb the towering temples of **Xunantunich** in the morning. In the afternoon, we head to the historic **Banana Bank Lodge** for a premier horseback riding experience through teak plantations and along the banks of the Old Belize River.
Your day begins with a private drive up the Hummingbird Highway. We cross the Mopan River on the hand-cranked ferry to reach **Xunantunich**. Your guide will lead you through the ancient plazas and ball courts, explaining the history of this major ceremonial center. The highlight is climbing **El Castillo**, the second-tallest structure in Belize, for panoramic views of the river valley.
After lunch, we travel to the famous **Banana Bank Lodge**. Known as the premier equestrian center in Belize, this estate offers over 4,000 acres of jungle trails, teak forests, and riverfront paths.
The horses here are well-cared for, calm, and professionally trained, making this experience safe and enjoyable for both total beginners and experienced riders. You will ride under the jungle canopy, spotting birds and maybe even howler monkeys.
We ride at your pace. Unlike large group tours that put everyone on a horse nose-to-tail, our private arrangement allows for a more personalized experience at Banana Bank. Plus, coming from Hopkins means less driving time than from Placencia, giving you more time in the saddle.
